- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup yellow onions, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat for about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add diced onions and carrots to the skillet; sauté until onions are translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in peas, Worcestershire sauce, thyme (or rosemary), salt, and pepper; cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15-20 minutes). Drain, then mash with butter and milk until creamy.
- Layer the meat mixture in a baking dish and top evenly with mashed potatoes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider using a mix of lamb and beef.
- This dish can be topped with cheese before baking for an extra cheesy crust.
