Description
A delicious sandwich made with shaved ribeye steak, Gruyère cheese, and caramelized onions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz shaved ribeye steak
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 4 slices sourdough or rustic white bread
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions by cooking them in a skillet over medium-low heat with a bit of butter or oil for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- In another pan, sear the shaved ribeye steak with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder over medium-high heat until just cooked through.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side, layer cheese, steak, caramelized onions, and another layer of cheese. Top with the second bread slice, buttered side out.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Grill the sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing down gently, until both sides are golden and the cheese has melted.
- Let the sandwich rest for a minute, then slice and serve hot.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider using different types of cheese.
- Make sure to adjust the salt and pepper according to taste.
- For a crunchier sandwich, use a cast iron skillet while grilling.
