- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 egg yolk
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 3 apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp recommended), thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ⅓ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix almond flour, melted butter, maple syrup, egg yolk, and salt until a dough forms.
- Press dough into a tart pan. Prick with a fork and chill for 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake crust for 10–12 minutes until golden. Let cool.
- Toss apple slices with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
- Layer apples in concentric circles over the cooled crust.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until apples are tender.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle chopped nuts if using.
- Cool to set the caramel. Slice and serve.
