Description

This creamy and fluffy cream cheese frosting is perfect for topping cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, or cakes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp milk or heavy cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Take the cream cheese and butter out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Add the vanilla extract and gradually mix in the powdered sugar.
  4. Beat on low speed first, then increase to medium-high until fully combined and creamy.
  5. If the frosting is too thick, add milk or cream 1 teaspoon at a time and mix until you reach your desired consistency.
  6. Spread the frosting over warm cinnamon rolls for a melty finish, or on cooled rolls for a thicker layer.

Notes

  • This frosting can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Make sure to use room temperature cream cheese for best results.
  • Feel free to add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
