Description
Deliciously chewy and soft chocolate chip cookies with a rich chocolate flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
- 1 tablespoon flaky sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Melt the 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips with the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and whisk until glossy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined.
- Fold in the 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks.
- Let the batter sit for 10 to 15 minutes if it feels too loose.
- Scoop mounds of batter onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the tops are crackly and the edges are set.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- For the best texture, let the batter rest before baking.
- Adjust baking time depending on your oven for desired softness or chewiness.
