A delicious treat made from leftover pound cake, deep-fried to perfection and dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Slowly mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Dip each pound cake cube into the batter, coating evenly.
  6. Carefully fry in hot oil until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
