Description
Delicious homemade donuts with a sweet maple glaze.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with nonstick spray or melted butter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, egg, milk, sour cream, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the donuts spring back when touched.
- Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To make the glaze, melt butter and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar until the glaze is smooth and pourable.
- Dip the tops of each donut into the glaze, then return to the rack and let the glaze set for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For a richer flavor, substitute brown sugar with dark brown sugar.
