A delicious and crunchy taco salad packed with flavors.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups Nacho Cheese Doritos, lightly crushed
- ½ cup sour cream or ranch dressing
- ¼ cup sliced red onion (optional)
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 2 tablespoons water (for seasoning beef)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in taco seasoning and 2 tablespoons water. Simmer until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
- While the beef is cooking, wash and dry the lettuce using a salad spinner. Chop into bite-sized pieces.
- Halve the cherry tomatoes and thinly slice red onion, if using.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and seasoned beef.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese and drizzle with sour cream or ranch dressing. Toss gently to coat.
- Just before serving, add crushed Doritos and gently toss with tongs to combine while preserving the crunch.
- Serve immediately or store components separately for later assembly.
Notes
- This salad is best enjoyed fresh but the ingredients can be stored separately in the refrigerator for assembly later.
