Description
Deliciously crispy shrimp coated in a sweet and tangy orange glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp (deveined and peeled)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 zest fresh oranges
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon ginger (fresh, grated)
- green onions (chopped)
- sesame seeds (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Start by peeling and deveining the shrimp. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt to create the batter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers, around 350°F.
- Dredge each shrimp in the prepared batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, and soy sauce. Heat until it thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Toss the fried shrimp in the warm orange glaze until evenly coated.
- Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to ensure crispy shrimp.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
